Unproductive Monday

Well, today was not productive, at all. I did not get one little bit of sewing, cutting or packing done and now I'm sitting here feeling a little guilty about it. I guess this shouldn't come as a huge surprise as I do have 5 kids and household to run and today is grocery day at our house but I usually get at least a little bit of something done for my business. Today was a super busy day and by the time everything that needed to be done including groceries, banking and picking up some books from the library for Grace and buying shoes for Oliver because he has grown out of every single pair that fit him, it was time to pick the kids up from school and my intention was to get some sewing done before dinner time, but instead I took the kids out for afternoon tea at a little cafe. We had a great time, the kids talked about their day and I loved listening to them.
I guess it's days like these that remind me that sometimes you can't do everything and that is ok. It also reminds me that I need to take time out and not worry about 'everything' and just enjoy being in the moment.
Because at the end of the day that is why I am a Work at Home Mum :)

My New Toy

After months of me complaining about my old sewing machine my wonderful (and extremely patient) husband took me shopping to buy me a new one!!! It was quite a shopping experience as my hubby is an upholsterer who does the interior of cars and he really knows his way around a sewing machine. I pretty much stood there while he told the lovely sales lady exactly what I needed!!!
So I now have a machine that has a walking foot attachment, automatic threader and lots of other great features which I am sure to learn about as time goes by (or I could read the manual but that very rarely happens until I have to fix something!)
I am so excited to have such a fantastic and easy to use machine to do all my work on, so I guess it's time to get off the computer and back to my sewing...no excuses anymore!

Meet Oliver

Well it was a while that I introduced you to my littlest man and one half of my inspiration for Oli&Jas, so I thought it was about time that you all meet Oliver :) Oliver is 4 and half and is very excited about starting 'big' school next year. He has a fantastic sense of humour, has his big sisters wrapped around his little finger and is a absolutely wonderful big brother. He is a bit of a wildfire so it's hard to get him still for long enough to get a good shot, but when he is in the mood he loves to pose.
A couple of days ago we were all sitting around watching the pole vaulting at the Olympics and when it was Steve Hookers last jumped we were all yelling and cheering for him. When he missed his jump Oliver looked really upset and I asked him what was wrong. He told me that he was sad because Steve Hooker wasn't going to get a gold coin. <3 my sweet little guy.

My Promise for the Week...

This week I promise to by no more fabric until I have finished creating with all the gorgeous fabric I already have...I must get stock made for the 2 big markets I have coming up in the next few weeks. Then again new material means new stock (well potential stock)...no, must resist temptation...although, I can really see this gorgeous Michael Miller fabric from the http://fabrics4u2.com.au website as a pretty funky tie and belt set for a little guy...Happy Monday everyone!!!

Meet Jasper

I thought I'd formally introduce you all to one half of the inspiration behind Oli & Jas, this is my littlest guy Jasper. He makes a perfect little model and he loves posing for the camera. He is cheeky, mischievous and charming. He had a bit of slow start with his speech (we were told he was about 1 year behind where he should be) but now he is doing speech therapy once a week and is coming along in leaps and bounds. I was getting something out of the pantry the other day and all the cup-a-soups fell out, Jasper came running and said "I 'elp you mum" It was the longest sentence we had heard him say...I was so excited, I called all he sisters and got him to say it again (and again) and we all stood around telling him how wonderful he is!!!

We are officially Dreamers

I am so excited to announce that Oli & Jas will be attending the very first Dreamers Markets
on the first of September at the Parramatta Riverside Theatre. I haven't been to a market yet and I'm having heaps of fun playing around with ideas for how my stall is going to look. I have already got my gorgeous red and blue bunting for the front of my table but that's about it!!!
Tomorrow I plan on taking my gorgeous boys out to the park and trying to get some really good promo shots. I'm going to muck around with some ideas I have in mind for shooting the chains by themselves and we will see what I come up with. I need some good individual product shots to put on my website so hopefully I'll figure it out :)
I'll let you know how I go.....have a great Sunday :)
